Chris Schoonover

Chris Schoonover is a Partner at Capital City Consulting and a government affairs strategist specializing in state appropriations and budget policy.

He has secured billions of dollars in the state budget on behalf of clients and is widely recognized for his expertise in Florida’s appropriations process. His practice also spans higher education, healthcare, information technology, and regulated industries, where he advises clients on legislative and policy strategy.

Chris began his career in the Florida House of Representatives as a legislative staff attorney, providing legal and policy analysis on healthcare, rules, and family services. He also held roles at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and in the Governor’s Office under Jeb Bush.

He has received multiple recognitions from Influence Magazine, including Education Lobbyist of the Year and Appropriations Lobbyist of the Year.

In addition to his professional work, Chris has served on the Florida Board of Governors and the Florida State University Board of Trustees. He is a former Student Body President of Florida State University.

Chris holds degrees in biochemistry and chemistry and a J.D. from Florida State University and is a member of The Florida Bar.
