Click here Florida Legislative Special Session ConcludesThe Legislature met December 12th-14th to consider sweeping property insurance reforms, as well as toll & disaster relief measures. This afternoon, the House approved bills passed by the Senate yesterday, and now three bills head to the Governor's desk:SB 2-A: Property InsuranceSenate Bill 2-A is a comprehensive bill intended to ensure policyholders in this state have access to quality, affordable private market property insurance. It addresses one-way attorneys fees, creates a new optional state reinsurance program, and strengthens the regulatory authority of the Office of Insurance Regulation. SB 4-A: Disaster ReliefSB 4-A supplements hurricane relief efforts by extending due dates for property taxes, authorizing refunds for uninhabitable properties, and providing additional funding to the Division of Emergency Management & Florida Housing Finance Corporation.
SB 6-A: Toll ReliefSB 6-A creates a toll relief program for users that record 35 or more transactions per eligible transponder per calendar month. The bill appropriates money to the State Transportation Trust Fund for the program, and requires quarterly updates to the Governor's Office on disbursements.
