The County Commission voted, in a super majority 8-3 vote, to override Mayor Levine Cava and allow for the South Dade Logistics and Technology District, the first major employment center for South Miami-Dade County in decades. This 378 acre logistics and technology district will bring thousands of high-wage jobs closer to residents in South Dade, who now travel hours to and from work each day. The project comes with pay requirements that will exceed living wage standards, as well as job training programs for local residents. The South Dade Logistics and Technology District will also deliver environmental benefits to the area by remediating the contaminated site and eliminating pollutant run-off that currently drains into Biscayne Bay, as well as donating 600 acres of environmentally sensitive land to Miami-Dade County that is critical for Biscayne Bay preservation and restoration. We are proud to be a part of this landmark project that will improve the lives of so many in Miami-Dade. Hard Rock Stadium Marquee Grant Agreement amendments gain approvalThe County Commission unanimously approved amendments to the Marquee Grant Agreement. This Agreement requires Dolphins owner Stephen Ross to privately fund and construct the modernization of Hard Rock Stadium and the surrounding site in exchange for receiving county grant dollars after major events such as Super Bowls, College Championship Games, the El Classico Soccer Match, and Miami Open Tennis. Since 2015, Stephen Ross has funded close to $1B into the Stadium campus and transformed it into a world-class sports and entertainment complex, attracting many of the most prestigious events on the planet. The amendment that was approved allows the Miami Dolphins to secure additional grant dollars for hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix each year, as well as the World Cup in 2026. We thank the County Commission for recognizing the unprecedented private commitment made by Stephen Ross, which will continue bringing tremendous economic benefit to Miami Gardens and Miami-Dade County for years to come. Thank you to all of our clients for the privilege of representing them. Onward! |
