2026 Primary Election Results

Florida's primary elections were held on Tuesday, August 18th. Below are unofficial results.

2026 Primary Election Results

Florida's primary elections were held today, and while precincts are still not 100% reported, below is a preliminary summary highlighting UNOFFICIAL results.

The November 3rd general election now comes into clearer focus, with Republicans looking to retain super-majority control of both state legislative chambers. All 120 state house seats are on the ballot, as well as 20 of the 40 state senate seats. Several seats were without primary challenges, and one senator and eight state house candidates lacked both a primary and general, meaning they were automatically elected after June's qualifying deadline.

Additionally, one U.S. Senate seat and all four Cabinet seats are on the ballot. Recent congressional redistricting significantly altered the political landscape leading into this election cycle, with 21 of the 28 districts redrawn.

Below is an overview of the most competitive/notable races, and a link to the state's Division of Elections results is below for easy reference to the most updated data.

Statewide Seats

Governor: The Republican Primary for Governor is the marquee contest on the Florida ballot. Trump-endorsed candidate U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds easily defeated Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, former House Speaker Paul Renner, and James Fishback.  Republicans will now immediately turn their attention toward the November contest for the Governor’s Office, in which they will face former Congressman David Jolly.

U.S. Senate: The Republican Senate Primary features incumbent Ashley Moody, who was appointed to fill Marco Rubio's vacant seat after he became Secretary of State. Moody easily won her primary as no legitimate candidate challenged her in the primary. However, she will face former House member Angie Nixon in the general election, who defeated former NSC director, Alex Vindman.

Attorney General: Attorney General James Uthmeier was unopposed for the Republican nomination and will advance directly to November, where he will face Democrat José Javier Rodríguez, who was also unopposed in the Democratic primary. Uthmeier, a former chief of staff to Gov. Ron DeSantis, has built a substantial financial advantage since being appointed Attorney General in 2025. The race will be closely watched as an early test of whether Florida Democrats can make any statewide Cabinet contest competitive.

Agriculture Commissioner: Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson easily defeated Republican challenger Matt Taylor in the Primary. Simpson enters the General Election with an enormous financial advantage and broad support from Florida's agricultural and business communities. He will face off against Democratic challenger, Joey Atkins.

Chief Financial Officer: CFO Blaise Ingoglia easily defeated Frank Collige in the Republican Primary. Ingoglia entered the race with the support of prominent Republican leaders and a substantial financial advantage over his challenger. He will face former state senator Annette Taddeo in November, who cruised over her primary opponent, Earle Ford.

Congressional Races

CD 1: Incumbent Jimmy Patronis fended off primary challengers in this very conservative Panhandle district, where he won the 2025 Special Election to succeed Matt Gaetz.

CD 2: Upon the retirement of Neal Dunn, a crowded Republican primary ensued in this very red district. Austin Rogers is the projected winner, vanquishing RPOF Chair Evan Power and self-funded Keith Gross.

CD 6: Rep. Randy Fine won the Republican nomination in CD 6, defeating his Primary challengers, including Internet personality Dan Bilzerian. Fine's victory allows him to move into the General Election with the Republican nomination secured.

CD 7: Ryan Elijah defeated incumbent Rep. Cory Mills in the Republican primary for Florida’s 7th Congressional District, overcoming a well-funded incumbent who had been under intense scrutiny over ethics and personal-conduct allegations. Elijah, a former Central Florida television news anchor, positioned himself as a conservative alternative to Mills and gained significant support from Republican figures.

CD 11: Joe Strada appears to have narrowly defeated former state Senator Carey Baker in the race to replace retiring-long time Congressman Daniel Webster. Strada is a self-made businessman and founder of Strada Services, a Florida-based air conditioning, electrical, security, and plumbing company that has grown to more than 4,000 employees across 13 states.

CD 13: Leela Gray won the Democratic nomination in CD 13 and will challenge Republican incumbent Anna Paulina Luna in November. The contest will be closely watched as Democrats seek to turn the newly drawn district into a competitive General Election race.

CD 14:  Former state representative Mike Beltran defeated state representative Kevin Steele to win the Republican nomination in CD 14 after emerging from a crowded field. Beltran now advances to a November matchup with Democratic incumbent Kathy Castor.

CD 16: Sydney Gruters, wife of state senator and Chair of the RNC Joe Gruters, won the Republican nod to replace Vern Buchanan.

CD 19: Jim Schwartzel won the Republican nomination in the crowded CD 19 Primary to replace Byron Donalds.  Schwartzel defeated late Trump-endorsed candidate Catalina Lauf.

CD 20:  Incumbent Debbie Wasserman Schultz won the Democratic nod in this crowded Democratic primary and blue district.

CD 22: Casey Askar, endorsed by Senate President Kathleen Passidomo,  defeated six other primary challengers in this Naples-based seat, that stretches over to the east coast.

CD 24: Oliver Gilbert won the Democratic nomination in CD 24, defeating Shevrin Jones and the other Democratic contenders. Gilbert now advances to November as the strong favorite in the newly configured South Florida district.

CD 25: Incumbent Jared Moskowitz dispatched a primary challenge and will face Scott Singer, who beat George Moraitis in the Republican primary, in November's general.

State Senate

SD 8: Jake Johansson won the Republican nod to succeed term-limited Sen. Tom Wright, and is well-poised to secure the seat in November.

SD 16: Rep. Fentrice Driskell won the Democratic nomination in SD 16, defeating Rep. Michele Rayner. Driskell's victory represents a major move for one of Florida's most prominent Democratic legislative leaders and positions her well to keep this Senate seat blue.

SD 21: While no primary was held for this seat, it is vacant due to the departure of Sen. Ed Hooper. Current Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco and Jordan Hensley will square off in the general election.

SD 22: Former House member James Buchanan won the Republican nomination, and should also win in November, replacing current officeholder, Sen. Joe Gruters.

SD 26: Former Rep. David Silvers emerged from the Democratic primary to replace Sen. Lori Berman in a D-leaning district.

SD 34: Rep. Ashley Gantt won the Democratic primary to replace outgoing Sen. Shevrin Jones.

State House

HD 13: Former state senator Audrey Gibson won her primary in this blue district.

HD 23: Incumbent J.J. Grow advances to November, facing Mark Baker in the general.

HD 31: In the race to replace term-limited Tyler Sirois, Matt Woodside won the Republican nomination, after defeating Robin Hattaway and the other GOP contenders.

HD 54: Incumbent Randy Maggard won the Republican nomination in HD 54, defeating Michael Pultorak.

HD 55: Walter Price won the Republican nomination in the open HD 55 race following Kevin Steele's decision to run for Congress.

HD 62: Kyandra Darling won the Democratic nomination in HD 62, defeating former state representative Wengay Newton.

HD 64: Lawyer Dan Weldon won the Republican nomination . The November contest will be one of the state's most closely watched House races as Republican term-limited Susan Valdes last won the seat as a Democrat.  In the Democratic primary, Mike Suarez lost to the more progressive candidate, Louis Salazar.

HD 74: Nick Pachota, mayor of the City of Venice, defeated Republican challengers Jennifer Winkler and Kellie Ann Walker.

HD 100: Lawyer Yoni Anijar defeated pediatric surgeon Eric Stelnicki and other Republican primary challengers in this closely watched race to replace term-limited Rep. Chip Lamarca.
