CAPITAL CITY CONSULTING HAS THE MOST EXTENSIVE portfolio of any healthcare lobbying practice in Florida. We provide legislative counsel and regulatory guidance to several of the largest health and managed care providers, subcontracted benefit vendors, specialty provider associations, utilization management entities, as well as the world’s largest retail pharmacy chain and pharmacy benefits manager.

Capital City Consulting has engaged in most every significant healthcare issue facing Florida in the last two decades including Medicaid managed care, implementation of the Affordable Care Act, balance billing reforms, healthcare transparency initiatives, and opioid-related policy reforms.

Members of our healthcare practice also play an integral role in helping numerous healthcare systems and hospitals receive critical funding. In this capacity, Capital City Consulting works to secure funding for statutory teaching hospitals and trauma centers. Our consultants lobby legislative appropriations staff, the Agency for Healthcare Administration, the Department of Health, and legislators with healthcare appropriations jurisdiction to ensure adequate and equitable funding for public hospitals statewide.

  1. Modernized laws related to dental laboratories (health care/business regulation)

Dental laboratories and their technicians provide products and services to dental practices such as implants, reconstructive tools, shade verification, and the fabrication of other dental devices. Florida law was unclear as to the ability for dental laboratory technicians to engage in onsite consultation during these procedures. CCC was able to achieve statutory clarity for this important role, ensuring that dental patients receive comprehensive care for services requiring the fulfillment of a dental prescription.

  1.  Improving Pharmaceutical Affordability

CCC successfully opposed legislation pushed by pharmacies and pharmaceutical manufacturers that would have restricted certain lower-cost biosimilars from competing with high-cost brand-name biologic drugs. CCC was able to educate legislators about the regulatory history, research and development, and upcoming pipeline of biosimilars as well as the proven track record of cost savings for both employers and insureds. Through these efforts, CCC was able to preserve consumer choice and maintain lower prescription drug prices for Floridians.
